The Carroll Center for the Blind is a full service private agency offering residential and in home training for people with vision loss of all ages. It is located on a leafy campus near Boston and is nationally and internationally known for its ground-breaking training in independent living.

Vision Aware  is an extensive website created for people with vision loss and their families by the American Foundation for the Blind which represents professional teachers in the field of vision rehabilitation. The website contains information about eye conditions and diseases, a starter kit for people with vision loss and their families and a regular newsletter.

The Perkins Library is the north east library for talking books and books in braille. It is one of the NLS (National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped) regional libraries. All the libraries offer free service either by mail or by downloading onto special cartridges, of hundreds of thousands of books and many magazines.

DeAnn Elliott is a blogger for the Carroll Center for the Blind in Newton, Massachusetts, where she explores the challenges and adventures of living with vision loss from a personal perspective through posts about family life, employment, rehabilitation, and recovery.
